Pedestrian bridges needed for CMU

How long before the city and CMU both get their act together and realistically address the obvious pedestrian issues around the university? What is it going to take for them to recognize that there is a major problem? Numerous individuals have been hit in recent years. Are they waiting for someone to get killed? Only then does it actually become a problem?

Take the intersection of Main and Spruce for example. The crosswalk there between the courthouse and the courthouse parking lot desperately needs a four-way stop if not an actual signal. But I guess until someone is actually killed it's just a minor nuisance not a real problem. Like with Horizon Drive. It took several people being killed before they finally installed signaled crosswalks.

But pedestrian traffic on Horizon is not nearly as heavy as it is around the university. Hundreds if not thousands of students cross 12th Street and North Avenue every day. It's time for real solutions. 12th and North need pedestrian overpasses. Plain and simple.

And don't try to claim that it will cost too much. The city already spends millions every year on unnecessary pet vanity projects. They have the money. They just need to get their priorities straight.
