How is anyone allowed three, five, seven DUI before being stopped for good?

A new law here in Colorado aims to make someone's fourth DUI a felony. This means that the first three are only misdemeanors. Wait, what? How in any rational sane world is a DUI only a misdemeanor?

And while we're on the subject how is anyone allowed multiple DUIs before they're taken off the road permanently? Driving drunk is intentional premeditated attempted assault at best, and attempted murder at worst. It's time we start treating it as such. Strike one go to jail for year and lose your license for life. Actually cause an accident and injure someone then it's automatically a life sentence. Kill someone and it's the death penalty. Done. Period.

And that should go for texting and driving too. End of story. Give the law real teeth. Make the consequences real for once and then maybe people will stop doing it. And to those who would try to say that it's too harsh, that everyone makes mistakes and that I'd think differently if it was me I say, endangering other people is not making a mistake. It's pure selfishness.
